Welcome to ISM’s Admissions Office

Dear Prospective Families,

Whether enrolling for the first time or transitioning your child to a new learning environment, choosing the right School setting and academic program for your child’s education is rightly so, a family-wide experience. From humble beginnings in 1998 on a vacant floor of a nondescript office building, the notion of a better education for Myanmar children was hatched into the International Child Zone (ICZ) and brought to life by Daw Hla Hnin Khine and a few of her select and closest friends.

At ISM, we are family! The Admissions process as well is similarly family-oriented. We are dedicated to making this process smooth and easy.

We sincerely appreciate your interest in the International School of Myanmar as the next step in the educational process for your children. As a School, we look forward to guiding and mentoring you and your child through the entire educational process from admission to graduation.

Admissions Overview

Thank you for considering the International School of Myanmar. We are thrilled to welcome you to our community! Families who wish to enroll their child in ISM must complete the following three steps:

  1. Contact the ISM Office of Admissions to make an appointment for an enrollment information session and obtain a hard copy (or download the PDF version from the link below), and complete the Application for Admissions. Please note and follow the application checklist for additional documentation as required.
  2. Return the completed application with all required supplementary documents.
  3. Schedule an interview and testing appointment and pay the application fee.

At least one parent or guardian is required to be present during the assessment/interview process. Any additional documentation must be brought in at the time of the interview testing appointment.

The school will then evaluate the application and the assessment materials and notify the parent of the admissions decision. Application decisions are made through the following criteria:

  • Academic records
  • Admissions interview
  • Admissions tests
  • English Language Proficiency
  • Mathematics proficiency
  • English Language Support (ESOL) space availability
  • Grade Level Space Availability
  • Presence of any learning differences, special needs, or prior support

At this time, ISM is not staffed or equipped to support children with learning disabilities or physical handicaps.
