Community Service at ISM

Service within communities is one of the cornerstones of the International School of Myanmar. We are committed to building the capacity of each member of our school to take an active role in promoting the well being of others.

Students are offered many pathways for learning about the needs of others and developing the skills to take action in partnership with individuals and communities within the school, the local community and around Myanmar.

At the Elementary level students work with residents of a long term care facility through performance, playing games and building friendships.

In the Middle School, community service focuses its efforts on helping a local school, raising environmental awareness, and supporting a microloan program through fundraising and advocacy work.

In High School, students have the opportunity to intern with non governmental agencies based in Myanmar. High School students run a very successful microloans program www.mlpism.com for Myanmar entrepreneurs throughout the country. Community service is central to the ISM community, and there are always opportunities to be involved!

For more information about ISM service activities and ways in which you can be involved, please contact the appropriate building principal.
