How about sports?
ISM has an Athletic Director and a very strong sports program. We have interscholastic tournaments within the Yangon Athletic Conference in volleyball, softball, basketball, soccer, and badminton.
Any other extracurricular activities?
Students also have a number of other extracurricular activities from which to choose. Teachers offer a number of different after school clubs where students may do anything from playing a sport or starting a rock band to making jewelry. Student Council and the community service clubs are two of the more popular activities. Each spring we also offer a Week Without Walls trip for all secondary students. Middle school students go on trips to different cultural or historical sites within Myanmar, while high school students typically travel internationally.
What are the students like?
Our students are eager to learn and are enthusiastic members of the ISM community. They have a strong work ethic and want to attend university abroad. Parents are very supportive.
What are the facilities like?
ISM is located in Hlaing Township, about a 20 minute drive from downtown Yangon. The elementary, middle, and high schools are all housed in separate purpose-built facilities. The middle and high schools are separated by a small field and the elementary school is located at the end of the street. Each campus has a cafeteria, library, computer laboratory, playing field, small playground, and covered basketball court as well as science laboratories.
As of the 2012-2013 School Year, the Elementary School is housed in a new purpose built facility. The Middle School has moved to the previous Elementary School campus, while the High School expanded to include what had been the Middle School building.
Is ISM accredited?
ISM is accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is a member of East Asian Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS).
