High School Curriculum

ISM has a standards-based, student-centered, mission-driven curriculum. Our curriculum framework extends beyond subject area standards, to include service learning, creative arts, and experiential learning opportunities – all of which are integral to ISM's holistic education and guide each student toward the accomplishment of ISM's Expected Schoolwide Learning Results.

The ISM high school program is a four-year, university preparatory course of study that is modeled on a U.S. high school program and leads to a U.S. high school diploma. Students, who successfully complete any of our numerous Advanced Placement courses and pass an externally moderated exam, may receive college credit in American universities.

The ISM Diploma is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and is respected and recognized by colleges and universities around the world.

Please see the High School Course Selection Guide for additional information on graduation requirements and course offerings. As you browse through this guide, you will immediately notice the rich depth and breadth of each high school academic department's courses.

For each course we offer, ISM teachers use the Understanding by Design (UbD) model to collaboratively develop and implement standards-based unit plans. Most of the best international schools use a similar strategy, because UbD helps teachers set clear goals and then personalize instruction to ensure all students are able to display a deep understanding of each unit's core concepts.

I invite you to look through the High School Parent/Student Handbook for further information on the organization of the High School.
