Life at ISM

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Parent involvement in school is essential to promote and foster ISM’s mission. All parents are encouraged to be involved in our PTA or volunteer with classroom activities and/or school events and build a meaningful rapport with the ISM community. These events are as follows:
Meet the Teachers: Students and parents are invited to visit the school, pick up the student schedule and briefly meet the teachers before the start of the school year.
Open House: Parents meet all the teachers working with their child(ren) and hear an overview of the curriculum and expectations for the school year.
Parent Coffees: The Principals host a coffee morning every month and share happenings in their buildings.
Parent-Teacher Conferences: There are two scheduled Parent-Teacher Conferences each year. Additional conferences may be called by a teacher or a parent at any time of the year.

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA)

All parents at ISM are automatically members of the PTA and are encouraged to attend events and meetings. At the beginning of the year, the PTA elects a Central Committee made up of three parent representatives for each division of the school. The Committee then meets with the Director and Principals, monthly, to collaborate on school-wide initiatives and raise school-wide issues (monthly). The aims of the Central PTA Committee are:

To promote close co-operation and communication between parents and teachers and administration.

To study and discuss matters of mutual interest relating to the education and welfare of students in a supportive role.

To engage in activities which support and advance the education of students attending the school

The PTA support school events such as International Day, Fun Fair and the Water Festival.
