LEARNING IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The International School of Myanmar, Elementary, provides a strong, standards-referenced holistic program grounded in research-based practice for curriculum, assessment and instruction. The program is supported by teachers through engagement collaborative practices that are data-driven and focused on student learning. We believe that elementary school should be a stimulating, engaging, and appropriately challenging experience for all children. It is a time for children to develop social skills, build strong friendships, and discover new subjects and special interests. Our goal is to provide academic excellence and promote the love of learning. We are committed to providing a rigorous, structured, world-class program to prepare our students for future success.

Our curriculum provides an education that engages our Young Learners in a variety of educational experiences. Our teachers differentiate instruction to meet each child’s learning needs, academic levels,  and interests. In most cases, instruction is provided by both a foreign and local classroom teacher through a variety of instructional strategies. Students are encouraged to reach their full potential in all academic and specialist areas.

At the elementary level, we provide an integrated education that includes English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, information center, Myanmar studies and music with technology threaded throughout. Our curriculum is supported by current educational resources and materials. Field trips, after school activities, and enrichment programs complement and extend classroom learning.
