WELCOME TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Mingahlahbahr!   I am excited for you to learn about our wonderful ISM elementary school through our website.  Through the following articles, stories, photos, and videos, we hope you get a clear picture of what makes our school so special.

The elementary school consists of approximately 400 students supported by 32 overseas hired teachers, 28 local teachers, and 11 administrative support staff.

Our students are the heart of our school and purpose.  Our overseas teachers, who have taught at many international schools around the world, constantly rave about  how hard-working, enthusiastic, respectful, and curious our students are each day. Their academic development is enriched by having specialized instruction in Music, Visual Arts, Technology, and Physical Education.  They also participate in Myanmar Studies three times a week to further develop their native language skills. To further support our students, we have a school counselor, an ESOL department, and Health Services.

Using American-based national educational standards and clear grade level learning outcomes, we make sure that our students are making successful growth each year.  We use learning continuums in reading, writing, and math to assist us in differentiating instruction so we can simultaneously challenge and provide additional support for students in these core academic subjects.   Our Early Childhood program uses a comprehensive and impressive Progression of Growth that identifies key developmental milestones that children achieve from 3 – 6 years of age.
