ISM Learning Framework

SUBJECT AREA MACRO FRAMEWORK

Aligned with Understanding by Design® planning approach the Macro Framework provides the overarching understanding and transfer goals in each subject area. From these big ideas, specific learning targets are prioritized and designed backward. The Macro framework also connects the academic program to schoolwide learning outcomes (SLO). Learning, therefore, is not merely about the acquisition of content knowledge but about the development of skills, concepts, values, and dispositions relevant to Myanmar and the 21st-century world.

The following elements are embodied in the Macro framework:
1) ISM’s belief and mission statements for each content area.
2) Transfer goals
3) Essential understandings
4) Essential questions
5) Adopted standards and specific learning outcomes.
